My name is Oscar Olatte, and I am a Metallurgical Engineer with over 30 years of
professional experience, a significant portion of which has been focused on
the reliability of reformer furnaces, covering both operations and
maintenance perspectives.
I spent 21 years with Methanex Chile, where I was directly responsible for the reliability
of Kellogg, Davy, and Kvaerner reformers, as well as a Lurgi-designed ATR. In
addition, I actively supported and collaborated on reliability assessments for other
Methanex plants worldwide, including Foster Wheeler and Jacobs reformers, gaining
exposure to multiple design philosophies and operating practices.
Following this role, I worked for 10 years at BD Energy Systems, LLC, a reformer
engineering company based in Houston, Texas. There, I was involved in reformer
design engineering, technical reviews, and construction supportfor projects executed
in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. This experience allowed me
to complement my operational background with strong capabilities in engineering
design and project execution.
I believe my profile offers a balanced combination of hands-on operational experience,
engineering expertise, and a strong reliability-driven mindset, enabling me to
contribute effectively to asset integrity management, risk reduction, and informed
technical decision-making.
